Griffon of Vaia

On the evening of October 29, 2018, the entire alpine territory of northeastern Italy was hit by a tremendous hurricane, winds gusting up to 200 kilometers per hour. An estimated 20 million spruce trees fell in a few hours-the largest forest disaster in Italy-called storm Vaia.

Marco Martalar, a sculptor and wood artist, mountaineer and nature lover, deeply shaken by this event, experiments with a new technique to make sense of and revive this timber from felled trees.

The Griffon, a mythological figure that combines theTrentino eagle and the winged lion emblem of Veneto, is located on the geographical boundaries between Trentino and Veneto, as a sign of symbolic union between the two regions.

Biolago of Castello Tesino

A bio-lake has been built in Castello Tesino that allows refreshing swims and dips for residents and tourists, while also savoring the peace and greenery of the area. It stands in the multi-service sports area, where there is also a children’s playground.

The facility has a swimming area of 700 square meters, reaches a depth of 1.40 meters and includes a children’s pool inside with a maximum height of 70 centimeters.

As a biolago, its main feature is the natural purification of water. Through the use of special materials, including different types of clay and gravel, which allow the water, filtered and purified naturally, that is, without the addition of chemical agents, to be warmer and have a lower bacterial load, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding ecosystem.

Open every day during the summer, it allows you to relax surrounded by the beauty of our mountains.

La Cascatella Park

In the magnificent setting of a natural amphitheater, only a stone’s throw away, nature provides a landscape colored by a cool waterfall, as well as a submerged green meadow.

The park, meticulously maintained in summer, offers the opportunity to spend relaxing hours surrounded by nature.

In winter, this place turns into a paradise where the sound of the waterfall enlivens the walk in the snow. The silence helps to find yourself and merge completely with nature.

Here you will find a beach volleyball court, a kiosk-bar, about 15 barbecue stations.

Alcide Degasperi House Museum

From the cherished places of Trentino to the stage of the great history of the twentieth century, from the Habsburg Empire to the Italian Republic: Alcide De Gasperi presents himself as an outstanding witness of an entire era.

To retrace their journey and personal stories is to delve into the changes, tragedies and great hopes that have shaped the world today.

The Museum is housed in De Gasperi’s birthplace, a symbolic place where his long and intense journey began. Alcide’s life and experiences, always on the edge of great history, are told by sounds, images and a few objects and documents.

Not a collection of relics, but a museum of ideas, where the values that guided the man and statesman on the journey from this small hamlet on the borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire to the threshold of a united Europe take center stage.

Garden of Europe - Degasperi Foundation

The Garden of Pieve Tesino, however, is different from those of the Adenauer Haus and the Maisons Monnet and Schuman: these are places where the owners lived, worked to build Europe, and sought moments of quiet. The Garden of Europe, on the other hand, was born posthumously: physically detached from Alcide De Gasperi’s birthplace, it was voluntarily enriched with strong symbolic elements.

The garden represents a favorable slope at the entrance to theTesino Arboretum was chosen as an ideal place for the installation, the design of which was prepared by the Center for Alpine Studies of the University of Tuscia.

It was implemented by the Autonomous Province of Trento through the Nature Conservation and Environmental Enhancement Service of the Forest Resources Department, which is also in charge of maintenance.

Tesino Caves

Serpenting inside the mountain for about 400 meters, the Cave of Castello Tesino is a karst cavity characterized by galleries, arabesques, stalactites and stalagmites formed over millennia.

The cave bears in several places strange hollow marks in the walls attributed to Ursus Speleus Ros, the cave bear, contemporary with Quaternary prehistoric man. In Trentino there are only fragmentary fossil remains of it, and the Cave of Castello Tesino remains to this day the only cave that preserves these rare and precious traces.

The cave can be visited only with a guide and by reservation, for more information visit the website of the Tesino Caves.
